The Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) directory of the elections taking place in May 2027 has now been published and is available here.

The directory, an annual production by TUSC that was referenced once as a resource by the House of Commons Library, provides a breakdown of the councils with statutory elections scheduled for the year ahead, the number of councillors up for election, and the current political control in each council listed.

The council elections on Thursday 6th May 2027 will be the biggest set of local contests that have taken place since the 2024 general election, with nearly 10,000 councillors being elected in England, Scotland and Wales.

The directory is an important tool for the forward planning needed to get the biggest possible socialist, anti-austerity alternative onto the ballot paper in the first electoral test of Andy Burnham’s government and its ‘continuity Starmer but with different vibes’ agenda. ■

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Policies

TUSC will oppose all cuts to council jobs, services, pay and conditions. Reject increases in council tax, rent and service charges to compensate for government cuts. Vote against the privatisation of council jobs and services.
