Hackney and Islington Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) organised a very successful showing of the film, ‘Riot from Wrong’, at the local Rio cinema last Saturday.
Around 100 people attended the event which included the film showing and a panel discussion, with speakers from a number of youth groups including Day-Mer Youth, Voice of Youth (Hackney), and Long Live the South Bank, and chaired by a Youth Fight For Jobs campaign representative.
Over a dozen prospective TUSC candidates for next year’s local elections in Hackney and Islington were also presented to the audience (see photo).
They are all pledged to a policy of no cuts to council jobs, services, pay and conditions, and total opposition to the privatisation of services and jobs.
All the main parties, Labour, the Tories and the Lib Dems, have slavishly carried out the biddings of the failed profit system and made workers’ and young people suffer with pay, welfare and job cuts, including cuts to vital youth services.
Next year hundreds of TUSC candidates will be standing in the local council elections posing a real alternative to the pro-capitalist policies of the other parties.
All those who support our policies should join us and stand as TUSC anti-cuts candidates in the 2014 elections and give local people the chance to vote for the millions not the millionaires.
